What: study of affect, behavior, and cognition (the abcs of social psychology), how the emotions are affected, behavior, cognition: thoughts of the person. If drinking isn"t a norm you probing won"t drink at a party. How: the use of scientific methods, studies will confirm common sense, cause and effect equations: People create their own reality: perception: the way someone looks at you; you interpret their facial expression. Situations influence people"s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors: behavior is the function of the person and their environment, will always consider the situation, unless you"re in that situation, you don"t know how you"re going to behave. We tend to overemphasize personality: explanations based solely on personality are incomplete. We tend to underestimate the power of the situation.
