Document Summary

Developmental psych is the study of changes in behaviour from conception to death. Child psych focuses on childhood ; study of children in their development using scienti c methods i. e objective methods of inquiry. Objective methods of inquiry means going out to test ideas to see if they"re true. They de ne what it is they"re studying in terms of observable behaviour. John d watson is the father of behaviour. He says we should be studying behaviours we can see and measure over time. Reliable ways of measuring behaviour are also developed. Replication is important in science because it"s same methods but different researchers. Descriptive methods - observing kids and recording the observations, interviewing kids and recording their response. Correlational - involves measuring 2/more variables and seeing the relationship between them. Experimental - involves manipulating variables ; take one variable and apply different amounts of it to an individual and observe how they"re affected.
