Social development: attachment a social and emotional tie with another person. Connection between attachment as an infant and adulthood. They will venture out to explore, but return periodically to check in. A place to run to when frightened. The infant becomes upset when their primary caregiver leaves. Starts to increase around 6 months and then peaks around 13 months. Fade by 18 months to 2 years. Safety and exploration(exercise and cognitive ability) for attachment. The fear of strangers that infants commonly display beginnings by crying. In first 6 months learning a sense of basic trust. A sense that the world is predictable and trustworthy (can we trust people when we need them) Critical period, if you don"t develop a strong sense of trust early on you"ll have difficulty later on in life. Being consistently responsive to infants will facilitate bonding. Get distressed by eye contact with no response.
