Document Summary

The more you understand your emotion, the more they can help your growth and development in life. Physiological activation (arousal): when there is a physical response in reaction to an emotion (ex. when your voice changes when you are nervous) Expressive behaviour: how you express your emotion; what is showing (ex. when you smile, hug when you express you like someone) Conscious experience: conscious perception of emotion; the conscious perception of thoughts, feelings, etc. of an emotion: theories of emotion, the james-lange and canon-bard theories. The james-lange1 theory: according to this theory, physiological activation and expressive behaviours come before conscious experience. Because of physiological activation and expressive behaviours, emotion and conscious experience is inferred from these responses. You are mad because you are sad because you are crying, happy because you are jumping up and down, angry because you are yelling, scared because you are trembling, etc. This is contrary to common sense, but is not considered correct or incorrect.
