Through sensations, we interact with the physical world, and through this physical experience, we go through a psychological experience. Sensation: collects information from the physical world and sends it to the brain. Perception: where the brain select, organizes and interprets the information collected from the senses; perception and sensation flow between one another (continuous); a very active, dynamic and complex process. Sensations is a bottom-up processing you begin with the very basic elements and build up (ex. cooking from scratch ) Perception is a top-down process you use knowledge and experience to interpret and organise the information you have. It is possible to have sensation without perception, but not perception without sensation; sensation are the basic elements. Prosopagnosia and injury with the temporal lobe and as a result they cannot recognize faces. Psychophysics: a study of physics that explores the relationship between the physical world and the psychological experience; how does a sound wave become a lecture you understand.
