Aristotle rejected the sophist perspective, claiming instead that accidents of history were actually a display of human community (that was chosen), and material necessity was rather a depiction of collective will. Aristotle: the city state is organized the way that it is because it is acting on behalf of the human community for the greater good it is natural (phusis) not forced (nomos)
