Or the cold war: waltz: bipolarity is the most stable, mearsheimer (1990): we"ll all soon miss the cold war. But extreme violent elsewhere: ex: superpowers fighting "proxy wars" in africa, asia, middle east, and latin america. Effects linger even today: ex: al qa"eda + 1980s mujahideen, mujahideen were funded by the us, led to the formation of al qa"eda. Post-colonialism: development of today"s international order and international economy is directly linked to colonialism and its forms of violence. Partial result of the rise of worldwide european empire and colonies: as late as wwii.
