An effect on the national society: socially and culturally. Powerful pressures have changed national economies and societies altering the perception of external threats. More complex, less predictable threats: domestic uprisings, terrorism. Before security was on the state rather than the people, the state is a source of insecurity on the people: individual, national: developing military power to secure the nation, relative to others. The threats were viewed as: international, globalization requires an expansion of the view of security to include things such military but also economic, external. social and cultural. Traditional ways are changed as time passes, as the international community progresses.
