Malthusians would believe, well then, we"re screwed: despite their ideological differences in politics, us still trades with venezuela b/c they provide a significant amount of oil. Us can"t impose their foreign policy on them: resource curse: the fact that countries (wrencher states) that are rich in natural resources ironically develop less quickly than those with less. Surviving on just an extracting industry, therefore avoiding neo-liberalism.
