Document Summary

Midterm will cover up to staine"s lecture 2 (mc and short answer questions) Always look at the facts being presented. Homeostasis is what this course is really all about, all organs used to maintain a good balance usually all kept within a normal range of numbers (blood ph etc. ) this gives rise to a constant internal environment. Our cells work under an optimal level and things will go wrong if it changes. One variable is not always going to be constant. A disease is when you are in homeostatic imbalance (ex. not actually cancer that kills you but the changes and imbalances in the other parts of your body that kills you) Steady state where a variable is maintained in a specific set point (not changing) but you need to add/expend energy to maintain the steady state. Equilibrium same as steady state but you do not need energy. Set point the numerical point that variable will be measured at.
