For biological reasons whole- brain theorist believed that they are still alive. Emile durkeim (1858-1917) defined suicide as an act that will knowingly bring about someones own death. Active euthanasia (ae: a mode of ending life in which the intent is to cause the patients death in a single act (also called mercy killing). Death by commission: the canadian medical association (cma) has revised its policy on euthanasia and assist death. The updated version (2015) supports the right of cma members within the bounds of legislation to flow their own conscience to decide whether or not to provide medical aid in dying.
