If autonomy is not followed, it is a case for tort law leading to malpractice cases or even assault and battery. But what about cases of odd beliefs or preduices of parents such as. Jeo(cid:448)ah"s (cid:449)it(cid:374)esses pa(cid:396)e(cid:374)ts (cid:449)ho (cid:396)efuses a blood transfusion for his son. The critique of autonomy: patient autonomy as impoverishing bioethics. If the primary and exclusive emphasis is on autonomy, we will have excluded from consideration those goods and values that make choice right or wrong: belmont theologian. The more autonomy drives public policy the less weight give to the common good. Very little we are by definition dependant not independent.
