Document Summary

Nicomachean ethics: aristotle doesn"t think the world of forms exists and the worlds forms can"t count for change. The idea of becoming is of interest to aristotle. Everything in nature has a telos (everything has a function, purpose or end that is must fulfill) Example: acorn: the telos of acorn is to become a tree. Aristotle was a keen observer of nature, so he relied on imperialistic data and observation. Everything is striving to fulfill its telos. The good of human life is happiness we strive for it. Eudemonia: living well or having a life worth living or flourishing. Happiness is a process and we only recognize our full happiness near the end of our life. Virtuous is considered to be a good trait- characteristics that are admirable. The opposite of virtue is vise (think things like gluttony) Greek word for virtue is ar te human excellence or excellence of character.
