(david wong, contemporary moral issues, 4th ed) This definition states that morality is a human necessity. Basically it says that it is a system that regulates conflicts of interest. A catalogue of what ethics, as the study of morality, concerns itself with: The connections between ethics and human psychology (e. g. moral theories cannot prescribe moral rules that are over demanding) Utilitarianism is a theory that looks at the morality of actions. The ontology is also similar it looks at the rules that guide actions. Even when we consider our self-interest (selfish interest) individuals also consider the interest of that self-interest. This implies that it is not just about tastes. In other words morality is not just about taste.
