30 views2 pages

Document Summary

Critics of the swedish model say prostitution has not been reduced, but driven indoors or into more dangerous, isolated area in order to attract clients without the attention of police. Reduces the amount of time prostitutes have to assess a potential client and negotiate terms before getting into client"s vehicle. Critics say that street prostitution, which makes only 20% of industry, is not representative of indoor prostitutes. The majority of indoor prostitutes report they are comfortable with their work. Because it only makes 20% it is not representative at all. Many sex worker activists say the law, through its de facto criminalization of prostitution, stigmatizes prostitutes and takes away prostitutes right to make decisions about their own bodies. Prostitution cannot be in any world where prostitution is not harmful. Seeks to reduce harm through decriminalization and regulation of the industry. Aims to protect freedom of choice of prostitutes rather than to promote abolition.
