Extensionally adequate - refers to all and only of the thing (i. e. bird refers to all the birds and no non-birds it is extensionally adequate) To be extensionally adequate the expression we seek to define must have the expression as the proposed definition (b) X is a square if and only if it is a rectangle with four equal sides. If not all as are bs, the definition is too narrow. A mammal is a warm blooded, fur bearing, land animal - too narrow. If not all bs are as the definition is too wide.
