However, having the ability or potential does not mean that all will seek knowledge or take action: self-care cannot develop. Dependent care: the care that is provided to a person who is unable to perform the self-cae needed to maintain life and wellbeing. Self-care agency: self care cannot be performed if abilities could not develop of became inoperable, self care agency is an ability to engage in self-care that develops from childhood, reaches maturity in adulthood, and declines with old age. Dependent-care agency: the acquired ability of a person to know and meet the therapeutic self-cae demand of the dependent person.
