The firs rib is hidden behind the clavicle. Front view: midsternal line, midclavicular line, anterior axillary line. Side view: anterior axillary line, maxillary line, posterior axillary live. The bifurcation of the trachea and the arch of the aorta are behind the sternum. Knowing the landmarks will help you know where to listen for heart sounds. You have to auscultate in each lobe, all 3 in the right and both 2 in the left. if you just listen to the lungs through your back, you"ll almost exclusively listen to the lower lobes. There may only be tb in the upper lobes, and the lower lobes will sound perfectly fine. Bronchiole going into the right lobe is bigger and straighter. The other has to get around your heart. (if you swallow something, it will almost always drop directly into the right lobe. ) (ex. Mechanics of respiration: (things you look at in inspection) typically minimal in movement.
