Minor scale: a seven-note scale, usually associated with fear, anxiety, sorrow, despair, longing, etc. Chromatic scale: uses all twelve pitches equally divided within the octave, usually associated with extreme minor mode feelings/ situations or with exotic images, does not have direction, unsettle feeling. Octave: span between the first note and the eighth note of a scale. Interval: the distance between any 2 pitches, an octave is a large interval. Melody: a series of notes (pitches) arranged in order to form a distinctive, recognizable (cid:373)usi(cid:272)al u(cid:374)it; the (cid:862)tu(cid:374)e(cid:863) Melodies are composed on smaller segments called phrases: we usually follow along with the phrases when we listen to music. Chord: complex of three or more notes that sound simultaneously.
