Compeiion among european companies (and powers: european players: dutch (early), french (late), portuguese, spanish (south coninent early on), briish (late), danes, starts as trading ventures, line between trade and state very blurry. Indonesia, south east asia: the indies, exciing during ime period, spices, inding on the way to china. China: texiles, tea, porcelains, size of chinese economy, big prize, floyd mccartney, so big and powerful, and so uninterested in outsiders makes it easier to penetrate other places, they use these easily penetrated goods to trade with china.
