Ottomans believe they can stop with military reforms, try to make an alliance with germany as they don"t want colonies in their lands. Turkish identity rising in ottoman, yt not nationalist at first. Revolt in 1908, counter revolt in 09, yt eventually get constitution reinstated. Yt started pushing ottomanism - ideology open to minorities, identity of togetherness. Bulgaria and greece free, austria and italy take land. Ottomans lost 50k miles and 4. 5 million subjects from 1912-13. Balkan war - mostly pushed out of the balkans. Minorities want their own nationality and not ottoman.
