Soviet anthem written during the war, nothing in it about classes or the economy. Signals that the attitude of the people was shifting, nationalization. Cold war is being put off for the time being. Reading for today will be put on the outline for this lecture: post-script war = allies + tensions. The soviet union knew it was going to win the war. By the time the allies land for d-day, there are no more german in russia. Stalin was asking the allies to open a second front to relieve the pressure. They had promised a landing in 92. And was too early in the war to conduct a full out landing. Soviets were used to dealing with lived on a mass scale. Also a popular disappointment with the allies and the second front: post wat expectations. Expectation that at the end of the war that the soviet union gets a reward. They think that the planned economy has worked.
