Repression, coercion, the great terror , purges: results of industrialization. The actual in increase in output was huge, not close to what it wanted to meet, there was actually a decline in agriculture. The way the 5 year plan was made + implemented, weakened the economy in the logn run of the economy. Peasants do not regain spirit after the collectivization efforts. The collective farm sector levels remained very low. Each private household/plot the gardens produced 70% of the milk and meat of the country. And vegetables that were sold in the markets. Chemical industry, housing, textiles (de cit of clothes) shortage of consumer goods. Even though it is a simple and under developed economy. The more modern the economy got, the harder it was to plan for all the variables. The more basic consumer needs were met, the harder it became to produce things in the right quality and assortment.
