What is to be done? (1902): critique of economism . Split between mensheviks and bolsheviks (1903- ) Should the party follow history, or push it? (mensheviks closer to a classic marxist position) Made some changes to traditional marxism: leninism. More than just supporting workings in the way they are in the moment: the party had to be disciplined, wanted workers to make the connection between economics and politics.
