Scottish enlightenment, they all know scotland is inferior. Smith implies that everyone can move to a different societal stage and be fine. Elite european society going backwards down the stages. Scottish historiography develops in unique way as connected to all 4 societal types. Nothing special about different race, societies, stages, etc. Wollstonecraft/some guy both argue that each sex needs to learn things of the other. Equality among genders only happen if they are equals in marriage. Wanted schools and classes to be co-ed, 200 years before a lot of other higher english institutions. Wants children to live with parents and go to class with others, public not boarding. Girls, in the first instance, need to be educated by men, and the men need to treat the girls the same as boys.
