Danzig corridor was a piece of german land that was given to poland to give them access to the sea and now he wants it back. Fr & br declare war on germany, thinks that hitler is going too far. Fr & br are on the wrong side of germany to help poland; isn"t much they can do to help even though they declared war: also b/c of blitzkrieg being so fast they don"t have time to react. Gr military is more powerful than polish army, they defeat poland quickly: they take out the polish air force in 2 days, gr has better equipped, better led, and bigger army. Russia invades poland on the other side: see ribbentrop-molotov pact. September 1st, gr invades, sept. 18 ussr invades, sept. 27 war is over. It was a slight gamble since many of hitler"s generals didn"t think they were ready and their army was still smaller than fr & gb combined.
