Gerontology: scientific study of aging and its consequence (new study) Physicians need to check how many meds they"re on and see if they have negative interactions. Will have impact all aspects of life. Canada deals with the growing pop issue of the aging population. Top 15 countries that live longer (ice land, canada 7th) stress, nutrition . Seems like women are catching up due to stressful lives similar to men. 3 conditions that affect population size and structure: immigration, death rates (donedown cuz health has improves, health care), birth rates (decreased since baby boomers) A young population is because of sickness. Most are now retiring/ becoming senior citizens. 1 in 3 are baby boomers, canada had the biggest boom. Decrease of babies from 3. 84 to 1. 49 so country is accepting more immigrants. Huge scare that there are too many baby boomers and that they will be a societal burden.
