Feminism: organized set of ideologies, moral philosophies, as well as movements in attempt to ensure that women are not discriminated against in political, economic and social spheres of life irrespective of sex, race, and origin. Women are disempowered so often economically, socially, politically and sexually. Women have to come together to support one another. Mainly focused on legal rights, property rights, working rights (post wwii) Challenging patriarchal structure of the political system. Assumption was that gender inequality was due to lack of legal rights. Women were seen as intellectually inferior, irrational, weak, etc. Focused on gaining equality in private and public spheres. Focused on equal pay, equal access to education and social services, etc. Evolved as inequality-based and responded to rst wave. Abortion was illegal, divorce was dif cult and the female body was commodi ed.
