De nition of slavery = robbery of one"s freedom & labour by another, usually more powerful person. Violence & coercion are used to carry out the theft and to keep the slave captive in a condition of bondage & servitude. Early part of colonial rule in canada, both aboriginal and african people were enslaved. As the former started to die, the latter became the dominant form of slavery.
