Studied how europe created a stereotypical image of what gets problematically referred to as the orient . Orientalist is the ways of meaning that european culture is used to manage and even produce the orient : including politically, sociologically, militarily, ideologically, scientifically, and imaginatively during the post-enlightenment period. The orient as it was racistly termed emerged at this time as a new project of study, and object of knowledge. Babylonion marriage market: women are only pictured as objects for sale. The global south is produced as a mysterious and exotic eroticized place. Women are being sold into marriage women are still being privileged in terms of whiteness from left to right. We can see that women on the left are the lightest and are imagined to be more desirable. Argues that power is productive, and that it exists everywhere.
