Document Summary

Week four: the story of an hour by kate chopin, characters. She had a paralyzed inability to accept the significance of her husband"s death. After the news gets broken to her she returns to her room alone, she stares out the window to see a peddler singing a song. She continued to stare out the window which she had noticed patches in the blue sky. She was young whose lines bespoke repression and even a certain strength. In her mind there was something coming to her in the sky but it was too subtle and elusive to name. She thought that the thing was getting closer and going to possess her as she began to say free free free. She did not know if it was a monstrous joy that was behind her, however she saw beyond the bitter moment of death and spread her arms open to welcome.
