Rousseau agrees with hobbes and locke on the state of nature but also disagrees with both of them. Concept of social contract refers to the making of social society. Social contracts are created by people"s individual will. Rousseau advocates social contract and community at the same time: he favours full submission of will of people to the community as well as their right to enjoy their own freedom. Rousseau is an inspiration for marxism and immanuel kant. Was orphaned at the age of 10, and bought up by his devout christian aunt and uncle. Was inspired by voltaire, montesquieu, diderot, and locke, in uenced kant, marx, Signed his books jean-jacques rousseau, citizen of geneva : he was trying to compare geneva with paris. Paris as a tyrannical society and geneva as an open society. Settled in paris in 1742, and became a close friend of diderot. In 1754, returned to geneva, converted to the calvinist religion.
