Ship ended up in ivory coast: dumped into large open areas. Soon after fumes started rising of the waste and started getting sick. Few had died and thousands needed treatment: didn"t even know what was happening and what they were treating. 17 deaths, and over 100 000 had health problems. First criminologist to talk about white collar crime. Connects to marxism and the issues of capitalist societies: to understand it, we have to take into account how capitalism works and how the system is set up to benefit capitalist interests.
