Not likely that they"re in prison for violent offenses. Mostly drug related offences, prostitution, fraud, forgery, shop lifting. In some institutions, the baby is kept from the mother. In certain institutions the baby is allowed to live with its mother for the first few years of their live. Certain criteria must be met for this to be allowed. Usually the baby is removed within 24-48 hours following the birth and placed into foster care (in instances where there isn"t family support) issues with foster care: The first few years of the childs life it"s important to have that bond wth their mother. Babies left without their mothers develop all kinds of anxiety. For many mothers this can be a big source of anxiety, worrying about where their child is gonna be placed because they have been in foster care and have suffered abuse. They don"t want their kid to go through that.
