Problem- oriented policing: the difference between cbp and pob is that pop is a situational approach and cbp fosters a community partnership. The difference between traditional and contemporary policing: for those who find these terms confusing, traditional police methods are primarily reactionary the phone rings and the police respond/react. Contemporary policing acknowledges that the community is a stakeholder or has ownership in regard to community safety. This style of policing includes the community and the police identifying and resolving community issues together. What is community policing: a different approach to public safety and law enforcement, based on a police/community partnership, strategic, proactive, seeks to solve problems. The difference in approach: community policing is an interactive process between the police and the community to mutually identify and resolve community problems, the community participates in identifying problems and setting priorities, problem-solving strategies are developed and implemented.
