After roman times, women continued the ancient traditions. The christians called them witches and condemned them, calling them worshippers of the devil. Witches used to be thought of as healers, they were strong, leaders, etc. Our ideas go back to the witch craze . Halloween used to be a time to remember the ancestors (pagan something) Midnight orgies, satanic rights, we are taught to fear the witch. Older women used to be revered, the hat used to be knowledge. Witch is not a thing to be feared. For generations, they kept alive the traditions of the african ancestors. When europeans arrived, they called the women heathens and persecuted them as witches.
