People commit crime because they are psychologically different. Phrenology: certain areas of the brain control different traits and behaviour. More often used, it would be larger. Get so large it"d create a protrusion trained personnel could feel bump and give diagnosis. Brain faculties: 25-35 there are three regions of the brain. A non-criminals brain regions would be balanced. If the lower region dominated, they are deemed criminal. Animalistic features not to me trusted. Medieval times same crime, the ugly one would be convicted. Emphasized human behaviour could be understood by scientific method. Interested in psychology and anatomy of the brain. Went about his studies: physician in army and prison examined the bodies of soldiers and prisoners of war and convicts. Studied bodies in prison to see differences. He said no, we"ve evolved from apes. Different people in society are at different evolutionary stages. Not as evolved look more like ape ancestors, and carry their traits more (behaviour, abilities, mannerisms)
