Very socially conservative, libertarian towards gov"t, etc. 2009 field candidates, ran unsuccessfully at pro level in 2011 election, came close to winning in 2012. Polls were showing that they were going to gain a majority. Pc"s had ruled alberta for 40+ years consecutively. 2012 article: alberts election 2012: wild rose candidate makes comment about gay people. This line was the death of wildrose. Polls had been predicting wildrose majority up until a week before, but got it wrong in the results.
