When we"re stressed it takes more brain activity, and this is evident in our non-verbal"s. all that energy has to go somewhere, and usually comes out in our anchor points and extremities. We believe the non-verbal message more than we believe the verbal one. Non-verbal messages from others tend to imprint on a deeper level than verbal ones. Watch for power plays: we use volume to take up space. If someone is speaking very quietly it could be seen as a submissive/shy behaviour: eye glaze is huge. They use eye gaze as a power play. Will use eye contact when giving a negative message, but not when they are giving a positive message. Will use eye gaze when they"re speaking but not when they"re listening. Any sort of physical retreat: when in retreat, the person will take longer to answer (delay in retrieval)
