Media"s power in society: the power of the media can be abused, by media professionals. Power without responsibility will come negative consequences: rights should always be linked with duty. How can you describe media"s power in society: how media"s changes our perception, accountability is one way to limit power. What makes the media powerful: audience, media industries, funded through monopolization and government funding, mass media, directly and indirectly influences what viewers believe, thoughts and actions. The power of media stems from: (1) dependence: for information and entertainment that operates with their functions in society. Mass media helps us: watch the horizon | reach consensus on social actions | transmit new culture. Functions: inform, create awareness, present alternatives, public forums, mobilize history, insights and judgement (2) reliance on the relationship between media and government. The governed rely on news media as a source. Observer: they report the events of the policy making process.
