If you want to be a good leader you just have to be more sensitive. Management is a style of getting things done through others. Typically managers will guide, plan, budget, organize, and solve problems. The trait era: late 1800s to mid 1940s. Meaning that we can kind of trace the type of behavior we want in a leader. They believed that you can make people into better leaders. The contingency era (situational era): early 1960"s to present. Rational planning models (e. g. , mbo (management by objectives), mbr (management by results), swot, ppbs (program, planning, and budgeting style) More of a man thing whereby there"s one leader. Can be described as the democratic style in a way that the leader listens to other people"s opinion. Employees are in an environment where there"s a positive energy.
