Document Summary

This theory has driven much of organization and management since the industrial revolution. It has brought enormous benefits, increasing capacities for production a thousand fold. But its weaknesses have also been exposed as human beings have rebelled against being mechanized, creating tensions that prevent organizations from adapting and flowing with change. Have a way of drawing things to them. They have a way of changing a key element of the organization. Ex. someone who is popular and known, but you can"t figure out why. Using attractors to make change (1) build relationships. Ensure adequate information is provided to those involved (give attractors the inside scoop, help bring them onboard) (3) seen as a threat by those who are being paid to make changes, as attractors are unpaid and unofficial. Outside attractors: attractors outside the organization can either be embraced, ignored, or send the organization into crisis mode. It"s not the material aspects, it"s the people.
