Higher absenteeism- also people will leave the organization. Upsetting confrontations in one"s personal and organizational life. Collectivist countries: easter, african, conflict must be avoided because of population density. Conflicts may originate with differences in age, race, ethnicity, political orientation, language, religion, socioeconomic status. Ex. disputes over wearing turbans to work or headdresses to school. Ex. arguments over which political party should be in power. Ex. disagreements about how to improve the health care system or reduce the deficit. Myers- briggs test: identifies personality types in order to place employees in the right positions, working with compatible others, identifies your personality type to make sure you"re going into the right job. Ex. one person values rules, procedures, meeting deadlines, being accurate, thorough, and reliable. Both are eligible for the job, but cannot work together in a compatible way. Conflicts in goals in roles affect personal and work lives.
