So the best way of getting a job is through networking. Bonding social capital: benefits that result from close relationships with parent, children and other family members. Bridging social capital: benefits that result from connections with friends and close associates. Linking social capital: benefits that result from relationships with people in positions of power who are outside of our usual networks. Social exchange theory: uses an economic model to weigh the perceived costs and benefits associated with a relationship. Predicts that we will leave a relationship in which the costs outweigh the benefits. Need for inclusion: need to be connected to other people. Ideal personal characteristics: individual who has the ability to enjoy being with others or being alone.
