The story of the trojan war is the most important segment of greek mythology. It is so important because it is the subject of the two greatest stories of greek epics known around the world (cid:523)i. e. (omer(cid:495)s iliad and odyssey). Trojan war was the major topic in the cycle of stories that the dark age bards recounted. The trojans are not greeks, but they are not treated as. Lecture outline: the founding of troy, the judgement of paris, the trojan war, the pillaging of troy, the homecomings (odysseus (p. 142-143), Agamemnon, others: the age of iron begins, myths of metamorphosis, big themes of greek myth, greek myth and near. In the mythology they are shown worshipping the same gods as the greeks, and are made out to be mirror images of the greeks. They are not to be thought of in the same way as the amazons.
