Document Summary

Everything started during the dark age in greece: In the 12th century b. c. e, several civilizations in the aegean disappeared. The mycenaeans, crete ad the hittites all seemed to stop existing. They weren"t necessarily wiped out as a whole but their cities certainly were. The causes of this event aren"t exactly known. There are several theories about this disappearance: the sea peoples, dorian migration, large scale natural disaster. The fallout of this event was a power vacuum in greece, opening the door for new peoples to move into the region and assume control. *asia minor not many greeks settled there at that time. (some mycenaean outposts were overtaken by the hittites) The serious colonization of asia minor really began in the 8th century, along the with the islands in the aegean. Most of that colonization was being done by mainland greece. The colonization process led to a division of the people in asia.
