Cimon told the allies what spoils he got. He separated the persian capives from the treasures and the adornments. The allies worried they wouldn"t get their fair share. Cimon made this deal: they could either take the treasures or the capives. The commander represening the allies chose the treasures. They laughed at cimon"s stupidity but it was short lived. Friends + family went to cimon to bargain for hostages. He got a shit ton of money that supported the leet for months and put some into the treasury. He was already wealthy but he became wealthier. He was able to fund many philanthropic projects. Inspired his colleagues to do the same, give clothes, money and food. Someone made the comment that he made money that he might spend it and spend it that he might be honoured by it. Plutarch said he might have restored the golden age of cronos. The batles at eurymedon were the high point.
