Slave: wealth (not as important as the other two) Originally free citizens of rome were divided in two classes. Problem, pats have all the money + power, plebs have nothing. I. e go on strikes, refuse to do work unless things improve. Referred to as struggle of the orders. 100"s of yrs (all to 3rd + 2nd c of b. c) By the time the struggle of the order ends. Plebs + pats was a hereditary thing. As time goes on you have a shift where there are plebs that are v rich and pats that are v poor. Ends up only coming down to a name. Land is where money comes from - it is the only source of income (farms, rent, crops)
