At beginning northern china was controlled by jin empire then they were defeated by the mongol yuan. 2 reasons for the rise of the mongol yuan. Climate change in asia where temperature dropped, praying for snow because it means good harvest for the next year. Northern regimes depend on the south for supplements i. e. grains so they force them to do trade with them. First powerful figure who unified mongol tribe: chinggis. After united started to invade cities in the south, they were cruel to the urban centres. They believed their culture rooted in the nomadic life, made them arrogant. First they sent a message to surrender, if accept they will be treated better and prince of city will be offered a position but if not they will loot, burn city, massacres. In winter they will move south and in the somewhere will move north, mobile capital system.
