Document Summary

Become immune to diseases we have received. Minor illness creates damage, scars in tissue, nasal. 100 times more bacterial cells than human cells. Innate immune system: system of chemicals producing a non-specific reaction, attack invading and own cells, cold symptoms, cytokines: communicate to immune system that it is damaged. Inflammation, swelling and leukocytes (white blood cells: inflammation pushes apart cells which eases access for immune cells. Adaptive immune system: selective system, takes time to operate, only invading cells are targeted, 2 3 days, immune system remembers, fast response next time, antibodies. Y shaped, sticky surface at the ends. Different kinds of antibodies are produced, only sticks to a specific molecule. Small amount of many different antibodies: b cells. Body carries little amount of many b cells. Immune system keeps a memory of which specific b cell worked. Live inside the cells and can avoid b cells.
